Ahh man, that brings memories back... the Chozo Ghosts really were difficult to deal with. The X-Ray Visor put us on more or less even ground with them. Really a great picture, but in my opinion the Chozo Ghosts could've been more ethereal. With these words I really do not say that I don't like them. You've done a great job on them. But the contours are a bit too sharp for ghosts. But that's just my opinion
Anyways: A very very nice artwork with nice perspective. I like it
Thanks! There's no problem at all! Your coment is very welcoming. I also think the same now. That was what I could come up with at the time. But I think that I achieved that ghostlike ethereal vibe on this one [link] I mean that I did get a lot closer to that feel, I think but only thanks to the guidance of Infinity's End from Metroid Database.
Anyway, I'm really glad that you could still enjoy this rendition despite that fact. Once again. Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply. You're welcome. I've looked at some screenshots of the Chozo Ghosts ([link]). I think it's difficult to draw or illustrate them like in the game (if not nearly impossible). There they are like energy in the shape of Chozos. That's quite a challenge. But nevertheless you did a good job, 'nough said : Nice job on your single Chozo Ghost. There you achieved the ethereal vibe, yup
Now I'm the one apologizing for the late reply. ^_^' Anyway, you nailed it right on the head. In the game they are nothing more than white light with a shape. That's why I used the game's artworks for reference but still with my comic style of dark lines and shadows it was a challenge indeed to get the ethereal vibe. Once again thank you very much for the well thought comment!
And now I am the one apologizing for the late reply ... again Yeah, and trying to illustrate white light with a shape digitally isn't an easy job, I think. So you did well to use the artworks to make your artwork. That way we can see the details instead of just white light. Thank you for labeling my comment as "well thought"
Wow! Spot on from that part in Prime. Great show of depth too, how closed in of all the action taking place, then it pans to the large background behind them. Nice work on the Chozo statue too. I'm also, amazed at the detail you applied creating the complexity of the walls and ceiling. The Ghosts and Samus's suit (not to mention the poses for each subject) look really sweet. That cross hatching and those rough lines to give their bodies that texture is the type of style I favor when drawing certain things. Are those the little glowing orbs in the back btw? Okay, sorry to ramble. I will now complete it with -->
No, not at all! If you want you can go on.I just love to know the people's reaction to my artwork and read a good introspective comment. As for your question at the end--I'm not sure but I think that you're refering to the dust particules. I had a rough time trying to make them (let's say)"believeble" and saddly I think I failed to it...
Anyway, Thank you very, very much for your kind words! It's this kind of feedback that makes me want to keep going and to do better! Thank you!
When playing Prime 1 and 2, there'll be round glowing orbs coming from the ground, slightly glowing actually. It adds detail to the ground atmosphere. For example when you go to a save port and as you walk up to it, you see glowing orbs floating and swirling around. That's what I thought they were in your piece. Also that area was made for the elders, kinda goes with the mystical and ancient essence. And no you didn't fail at it. still looks like an extreme battle!
This pic reminds me of my first encounter with the Chozo Ghosts: I was covered from head to toe in goosebumps and yelled like a sissy whenever they shot me from behind. One of the scariest Metroid experiences in my life. Nice details and poses; they help portray the feelings you experience when you fight these jerks for the first time.
Teehee, I was looking at your art and read a comment and decided to draw a pic to it, and I just wanted to say your picture helped me... a lot! I had no idea how to draw a Chozo Ghost o-o (in case you're curious [link] ) But yours is obviously better. This pic reminds me of Link from Zelda being attacked by ReDeads almost
